Merino Inn Hotel ★★★

Room had everything you need. Fridge and Aircon a huge help in hotter conditions . Room was very clean.

The restaurant was good but the manager was a bit sarcastic on her comments when asked about the grams of the meat as it was not stipulated on the menu. The waitresses however were very nice and helpful

Very happy with the room, ice cold aircon, needed that after the long drive. Great food and well priced.

All was in order except the tv has no signal. But it was a problem with all the rooms.

Price per night

Check-in was very efficient and easy. Each romm's allocated parking is right outside the door of the room which made unpacking and repacking in the morning nice and quick. The room had everything we needed for our stop-over, including a little fridge and freezer. The aircon was a welcomed feature as it was very hot when we were there. We felt safe and had a peaceful night's sleep. The beds were comfy. There were no noise disturbances despite all the rooms around us being occupied. It was very helpful that check-out could be done early so that we could get on the road first thing. We enjoyed the atmosphere at the restaurant and the food was great.

The bathroom was a little tight, mainly because the door opens into the small space so it makes it a little awkward to get inside and around the door. A door on a rail on the outside or inside may be an option as a space saver.

Hidden gem perfect for families of 4 needing overnight accommodation to break the trip between Joburg and Cape Town on the N1. Beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Definitely not luxury accommodation but it more than served the purpose and exceeded my expectations. Will definitely recommend it.

My husband felt the outer security could be upgraded

I enjoyed the dinner but did not have breakfast as i am diabetic and there is no provision for Fatfree or skimmed milk.

The carrot in my dinner dish tasted like it had sugar(or too sweet) which was a problem with my diabetic condition

I have stayed at The Merino Inn for years, it is a great stayover travelling from Cape Town to Jhb and back. It is quiet, the staff are great and you feel welcome here. I have also travelled with my pets on various occasions (cat and Great Dane) and it lovely to know that I am welcome there.

Breakfast was lovely. The location is a little difficult to find as it is not signposted as well as one would like.

We had an unfortunate incident with the check in receptionist. She was ill-prepared for us, saying that the booking had not been paid for (which it had) and then let herself into our room without permission and giving no adequate reason for being there, especially as my husband and I were in the dining area and I returned to the room by chance. I spoke to the Manager and was assure that this would be dealt with in-house, but I am still unhappy that it occurred at all - not what I would have expected.

Absolutely fantastic. Staff were very good. Wonderful fire in the bar, cold beer and with a big screen projection TV for sport. Jungle gym and huge space for the kids after a long drive, as well as a few game animals for them to watch. Old hotel but the rooms were spacious and clean and have been modernised. The highlight though was the food. Honestly some of the best lamb I have ever had. Well done. Will always stay at Merino from bow on.

Loved everything

The night I stayed was very cold, however, the rooms were very quickly warmed, the rooms are also huge.

The fittings, although in good order, were a little dated.
